Where can I buy Leche?

What is the difference between Leche and other donor milks?

One of Leche’s core values is supporting all parents, including our generous donor community. Leche is one of the few companies that compensate mothers for their hard work in making this precious resource which they then share with others. Through our donor program, Milkdrop, Leche is helping moms more easily share this amazing resource with families and babies who need it most.

Where does Leche’s human milk come from?

Leche’s donor breast milk comes directly from our breastfeeding mother’s  in the USA. Our US-based donors are pre-screened, blood tested by a medically-approved laboratory and donor milk is triple-tested for safety and nutritional standardization.

How are donors screened before contributing to Leche?

Our Leche donors are first pre-screened in our initial application process. Before becoming a donor, a breastfeeding mother must be approved through our application process and medical verification test. These safeguards ensure that milk provided by our donors is free of any harmful contaminants like drugs, alcohol, or pathogens before being accepted into our donor program.

How do I know Leche is safe for my little one?

Leche is triple-tested to ensure quality and safety.  Our first step is ensuring the milk we receive is safe. Our Leche donors must be approved through an application process and take a blood test to ensure that donors are free from risk factors like communicable diseases, drug use, and blood-borne pathogens. Every milk donation is tested for microbial contaminants, drugs, alcohol, and foreign milk proteins to ensure our customers are receiving 100% human milk. Once production of our product is complete, it is re-tested to ensure it meets the highest levels of quality and safety. This allows us to provide the strongest levels of confidence to our families and babies receiving our products.

Can I use Leche as my primary feeding source?

Leche is designed to complement your infant feeding journey. If you desire to use Leche as your sole feeding source, consult with your child’s pediatrician to ensure all of your baby's nutritional needs are met.

How does Leche compare to fresh breast milk or formula?

Freeze Drying Services

What types of storage bags can you process?

We only accept disposable certified breast milk storage bags. At this time we can not accept any glass containers, other zip-style bags (ex. Ziploc) or any other storage containers. Bags sent to Leche should not be overfilled as this can lead to leaky bags and waste.

When is the best time to pack and ship my breast milk to leche?

Given the importance of making sure your package arrives within the work week, you can only send your shipment out Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. This will ensure your breast milk will be kept safe and frozen prior to processing.

We highly recommend packing up your breast milk immediately before dropping off your package or its scheduled pick-up time. PLEASE do not leave your package outside if it is scheduled for pick-up by FedEx. Hand your Leche shipping box directly to your FedEx representative. If you select pickup, select and confirm your pickup date and time before you pack your shipping box as it may require at least 24 hours in advance to confirm your pick-up window.

How much milk can I send for each order?

You can send up to 75 ounces of breast milk for each shipment as long as it fits in your custom Leche breast milk storage bag. We can only accept your custom Leche storage bag if it is FULLY SEALED and SIGNED prior to shipment.

How do I reconstitute my Leche?

Our reconstitution guidelines are flexible, but please chat with your pediatrician to design the best nutritional plan for your little one.   Hydration is just as important as all the amazing nutrients in your breast milk -- ensure that you refer to the CDC guidelines on the average amount of liquid ounces required based on your little one's age and weight.

Everyday Leche: For each (5 gram) Leche scoop, mix with 2 ounces of purified or distilled water.

Leche Premier: Mix the contents of one sachet with 4 ounces of purified or distilled water. Depending on your little ones' needs and how much powder you use, you can modify this ratio to 2-6oz of water.

Once opened, how long do I have to use my Leche?

Everyday Leche and Leche Premier have a shelf life of 3 years as long as the packaging is unopened, sealed and stored in a cool, dry place. For Everyday Leche, we follow the same standards set by the FDA for infant formula which is recommended to be used within 1 month of opening. As long as you keep your Leche in a cool, dry place and limit exposure to moisture, oxygen, or heat, you will be able to follow the standards above.

How can I find additional feeding resources for my breastfeeding journey outside of Leche?

We love providing you with as many great resources as possible to help you throughout your breastfeeding journey yet we always will follow and lead you back to the CDC, AAP and Healthy Children organizations.

Can I use Leche as my primary feeding source?

Leche was designed to be a compliment to your nutrition and feeding plan, created to help give parents and babies more flexibility. Leche processes within a facility that holds the highest food handling certifications. Leche is the ONLY breast milk freeze-drying service currently conducting extensive pre-production testing to ensure no harmful bacteria are present in the breast milk. Thank you for trusting us with this precious gift and resource that will give back to you and your little ones for years to come.

Can I send liquid milk?

We only accept frozen breast milk for both shipping and processing safety.

How much flexibility is there with Leche's reconstitution instructions?

We know that one of the most beautiful parts of each mother's breast milk is that it is unique and specifically made for their little one's needs. Just like no mom's milk is exactly the same, not every baby requires the same nutritional plan. Leche is here to provide you the flexibility and convenience in feeding but designing your baby's nutritional plan is a decision made between you and your pediatrician. Discuss with your pediatrician how you plan to use Leche and what other needs are required to ensure your baby is getting everything they need.
