frequently asked questions

Q: What types of storage bags can you process?

A: We only accept disposable certified breast milk storage bags. At this time we can not accept any glass containers, conventional zip-style bags or any other storage containers.

Q: How much milk can I send for each order?

A: You can send up to 75 ounces of breastmilk for each shipment as long as it fits in your custom Leche breast milk storage bag. We can only accept your custom Leche storage bag if it is FULLY SEALED and SIGNED prior to shipment.

Q: Can I send liquid milk?

A: At this time we are only accepting frozen bags of breast milk. Due to the extreme importance of temperature control during the shipment process and the strict safety guidelines we follow, we do not want to risk the possibility of having to dispose of your milk due to temperature control issues. (something like that).

Q: When is the best time to pack and ship my breast milk to Leche?

A: Given the importance of making sure your package arrives within the work week, you can only send your shipment out Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. This will ensure your breast milk will be kept safe and frozen prior to processing. We highly recommend packing up your breast milk immediately before dropping off your package or its scheduled pick-up time. PLEASE do not leave your package outside if it is scheduled for pick-up by FedEx. Hand your Leche shipping box directly to your FedEx representative. If you select pickup, select and confirm your pickup date and time before you pack your shipping box as it may require at least 24 hours in advance to confirm your pick-up window.

Q: How do I reconstitute my Leche?

A: Our reconstitution guidelines are flexible, but please chat with your pediatrician to design the best nutritional plan for your little one. Hydration is just as important as all the amazing nutrients in your breast milk -- ensure that you refer to the CDC guidelines on the average amount of liquid ounces required based on your little one's age and weight.

Everyday Leche: For each (5 gram) Leche scoop, mix with 2 ounces of purified or distilled water.

Leche Premier: Mix the contents of one sachet with 4 ounces of purified or distilled water.

Depending on your little one's needs, you can modify this ratio to 2-6 ounces of water. Feeling thirsty? Just add more water! Feeling hungry? Just add more Leche! We know that one of the most beautiful parts of each mother's breast milk is that it is unique and specifically made for their little one's needs. Just like no mom's milk is exactly the same, not every baby requires the same nutritional plan.

Leche is here to provide you the flexibility and convenience in feeding but designing your baby's nutritional plan is a decision made between you and your pediatrician. Discuss with your pediatrician how you plan to use Leche and what other needs are required to ensure your baby is getting everything they need.

Q: Why choose Leche?

Q: Can I use Leche as my primary feeding source?

We always suggest working with your pediatrician to ensure that your baby is getting adequate nutrition and hydration from the various sources available to you, whether that be breast milk, Leche, formula or a combination of all.
